I was fortunate to have my mom come and stay with me postpartum for three weeks. I find it ironic that one of the times I needed my mother most was when I actually became a mom. The first thing she asked me was “what do you want me to make for you.” Usually I say, “I don’t know, just make whatever.” But this time I knew right off the top of my head. I wanted her tuna salad and lentil soup.

My mom is one of those people that is so full of love and wants to share it with everyone. She has a unique gift of being able to talk to anyone – and I think this is because she doesn’t judge anyone. She just listens to them and what their story is. While I may not relate to my mom entirely all the time – I do appreciate her never ending thoughtfulness for my sister and I. She is one of the most thoughtful people I know and I only hope that my son has a chance to really get to know his YiaYia.

Mom, I appreciate you. I value the time we spent together. Thank you for being a great Mom! Thank you for cooking, cleaning, looking after me and loving me – my entire life. It has meant more than you know. I love you Mom.
