Dear Lil B,

Phewy, Mommy got your 4-month update up just 2 days before you turned 5-months. Oy, it has been super busy. Month five was so much fun, you have a whole new level of alertness.

Your face is changing so much. It is a bittersweet time for Mommy because she doesn’t want you to grow out of the baby stage but at the same time she welcome you being a little less dependent on her. You give the best hugs and at our late night feedings – I still get to see a glimpse of those sleepy smiles you gave all the time as a newborn.

You are the sweetest, happiest little man and I love you sooooooooooooooooo very very much.

Here’s a brief overview of what happened during month five:

1. You tried solid foods last week because Mommy panicked and thought you weren’t getting enough to eat (turns out you are getting enough). You ate rice cereal like a champ but Mommy is going to wait another month to fully start you on solids because the AAP says it will help reduce respiratory issues if we wait until you are six months. So, better to be safe.

2. You sat in the Bumbo – a little chair that helps you learn to sit. You hated it at first but the second time you didn’t seem to mind it much at all. You are a quick study and easily adapt to new things – usually always with a smile.

Hating the Bumbo (1st time).
I'm a Pro. Been there done that, next.

3. You are an old pro at bath time now. You could hang out all day in the tub if we let you. You’ve figured out that moving your legs makes “splashy” and mommy laughs and sings you the “splashy splash” song she made up for you.

4. We had a Mardi Gras celebration with Uncle JMo, Uncle Wayne, Uncle Steve and Aunt GZ and you just slept through the entire festivities like a champ.

5. You sleep in all crazy positions and move around the crib like you are on some type of marathon. You rotate 360 degrees around the crib and settle in all crazy ways. But you always wake up with a smile on your face.

6. You have a weird crush on the baby monitor or you might just be too smart for your own good and know that Mommy and Daddy keep an eye on you with it. You always look into the lens and smile and talk to it.

7. You’ve started this scratching/grabbing motion with your hand on every surface – it’s like you are trying to pick up everything even if it can’t be picked up (like the animals on your animal print crib sheets).

8. You continue your obsession with Mr. Froggy that Aunt GZ gave you. I think you like his big eyes, smile and bright green body – you get so excited to see him. He is actually the tub faucet cover so he will be in your life for a while – don’t worry little man he isn’t going anywhere.

9. You’ve taken more of an interest when Mommy and Daddy and Aunt GZ read you books. You love your Friends&Family book that Mommy put together for you of all your friends and family including Foxy and Duchess, and ofcourse “Booskoo” (Buddy).

10. This month your giggle and laugh have become more prominent and purposeful. Mommy gives you zurburts when she changes you and you just think it is the funnest thing ever.

11. You talk all the time and just hang out in your crib. Mommy just loves to listen to you. Your sounds are becoming more prominent and I’m pretty sure I heard you use an “mmmm” sounds the other day which means you are closer to saying “Mommy.” Come on little man you can do it!
