Well, if you haven’t heard of or joined the new phenomenon – Pinterest – you should. It is a whole new way of sharing yourself without having to post status updates and it creates a whole new level of connectedness with your friends other than having to verbally communicate it. Pinterest makes it easy for you to share and connect with your friends visually. And after all, isn’t a picture worth a thousand words? Connect with me on Pinterest.

But, I digress. On Friday, I had a really really horribly down day. I felt like I had reached my emotional breaking point and usually I just cope and move on, but being a new-born mother I’ve realized sometimes you can’t cope on your own and you need the help of others. I don’t think this is as quite apparent until you are thrown into the trenches of the first few weeks of having a newborn in your home.

Luckily, I had a planned call with my girlfriend, Andrea. I am one of those unfortunate types of people that happens to have most of her great girlfriends living in other parts of the country. I am also fortunate to have great girlfriends here as well, don’t get me wrong. But, I’ve know Andrea since I was in 7th grade (that doesn’t really seem like it was too many years ago albeit nearly 15 years) and I still feel like that 13 year old little girl (eh hem, teenager) when I talk to her on the phone. She is one of those people that I can just gab away with and say the most honest thing no matter how absurd and she will just laugh along with me or absorb it without judgement – she has been that way ever since I’ve known her and that is why she was my best friend back then and although we don’t speak as much I do feel the same way about her today.

She saved me yesterday as I vented about how hard this parenting/motherhood thing is. Thank you Andrea! And well, the universe must know that I need some support as today I visited my Pinterest account and saw all these “self words of encouragement” messages that my girlfriends had pinned for themselves – and it made me feel like I was not alone. WOW and Thank you to all my lady friends – your strength and encouragement came forth without you even knowing it! So I thought I would share them with all of you and hope you find them helpful on a rainy “emotional” day.

And then as I was randomly “surfing the net” (haha, that phrase is funny) I came a cross a quote from Rocky Balboa (yes, the Rocky movies) that said the following:

“It ain’t about how hard you hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward, how much you can take and keep moving forward, that’s how winning is done. Now if you know what your worth, go out and get what your worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hits and not pointing fingers and saying you ain’t where you want to be because of him or her or anybody, cowards do that and that ain’t you, your better the that.” -Rocky Balboa

I guess my pep talk to myself would be –

hang in there and take the bitter with the sweet because life moves fast. There is no reward without hard work. There is no reward without perseverance – see it through and do the best you can every day.
